SCENIC KENTUCKY BLUEGRASS

SCENIC  Kentucky Bluegrass is an improved variety of bluegrass selected from an individual outstanding plant in a foundation seed-stock field of Merion Kentucky Bluegrass.  During the seven years between the original selection and its release as a variety  SCENIC  was repeatedly grown and re-selected for improved turf quality and disease resistance.

 SCENIC Kentucky Bluegrass resembles Merion, but the two differ in several characteristics. SCENIC  turf is more erect, has a finer-leaved texture and is darker green.  SCENIC also maintains good color and a satisfactory turf under lower soil fertility than Merion, although the density and shade tolerance are equal.

SCENIC Kentucky Bluegrass greens up faster in the spring than most other Kentucky Bluegrass varieties and holds this color longer than most grasses proving good drought resistance.   SCENIC is adaptable to many areas, giving a good showing in low wintertime temperatures and blazing summertime heat.  SCENIC is resistant to leaf and stripe rusts, leaf spot and crown rot.  Also showing good resistance to powdery mildew, snow mold and snow scald.

SCENIC Kentucky Bluegrass will make a fine lawn when sown alone and it is an excellent blending partner with other improved bluegrass varieties. It is also a great blending companion with fine fescues and perennial ryegrasses.
